How To Soothe Your Tired Feet

feet in the airAre you tired of spending all day on your feet, only to barely recover from the pain and do it all again the next day? You’re one of many that suffer from foot pain. Our feet deserve the best. They are, after all, the part that carries us literally everywhere we go. So, why are you not treating your feet? Many people don’t, because they don’t know how simple and inexpensive effective remedies can actually be. In fact, many can be found in your kitchen?

Carbonated Water: Many of us already have this in our kitchen, and it actually has soothing properties when used on the body. Dip your feet into a bowl of this and you’ll feel nice and refreshed after work.
Flour: Combine it with simple water, or with wine and gardenia, and it will not only expedite the healing process of any injuries your feet may have endured, but it will also help you relax.
Epsom Salt: You may have already used this before, but if you haven’t, toss in 2 tbsps. of Epsom salt into a basin, combined with warm water and soak for up to 15 minutes. We don’t recommend going over the 15 minutes, as it can dry your skin out.
Olive Oil: This is used well after an epsom salt bath; try massaging your feet with this moisturizing oil.
Food/Drink: Two commonly-found products; tea and bananas, are both useful in balancing your feet’s fluid levels.
Postum: It may be a bit obscure, but is actually an excellent solution if you constantly find yourself having cold feet. Simply brew a cup of postum along with cayenne pepper, and drink while hot.
Vinegar: Sure, it may smell a bit odd, but it works well to soothe all types of foot aches and strains. Make cold and hot vinegar wraps, and continue to switch off between the two. Heat a bowl half-and-half with vinegar and hot water. Then, soak a clean towel in the mixture and wrap around your feet for a minimum of 5 minutes. Then switch off, with cold water and vinegar, and repeat three times.
Ice: Ice is especially helpful if you have tendonitis, as it works to reduce inflammation.
Water: As we’re primarily composed of water, you can imagine it helps with just about anything. Simply soak your feet in regular warm water for at least 2 minutes, and follow up with cold water for at least 15 seconds.
Asparagus: Steam and eat the asparagus and watch how it helps relieve your swollen feet. As it’s a diuretic, it helps to get rid of excess fluid from the body.
Cinnamon: As one of the most relieving remedies for sore feet, drink hot cinnamon tea three times a day to experience its effects.
Sage: Did you know that you don’t even have to consume sage for it to take effect? Nope, all you have to do is take a couple leaves and rub them in your palm to create a release. Then, place them in a saucepan with cider vinegar and boil. Let the leaves sit for a minimum of 5 minutes, then soak a clean cloth in the mixture and apply to your feet.

It’s never too late to start taking steps to becoming a healthier you. Detoxing is one of the best ways to do just that, by flushing out all of the potentially harmful toxins which build up in our bodies over time. While maintaining a healthy diet is a huge part of being healthy, detoxifying our bodies is also very important.

So, how exactly do these toxins infiltrate our bodies in the first place? It can be as simple as consuming processed foods, drinking alcoholic drinks, smoking cigarettes, taking certain medications, and even drinking water that has certain toxins added to it. If you live in a big city, you have added pollution, which can take a toll on the body, as well. Using chemical-filled cleaning products and cosmetic items are another easy way toxins like to sneak into our bodies. However, not all toxins come from external sources; we can produce them ourselves! We do this with an overgrowth of yeast, counterproductive bacteria, extreme stress, as well as negative energy being around you.

While detoxing, you’ll find that not only do you feel better, but you’ll also begin to look better. You’ll have much more energy without being reliant on substances like caffeine, inflammation will go down, and you’ll also see that your skin starts to glow and hair becomes more shiny. You’ll heal physically, emotionally, and mentally, feeling like a weight has been lifted off of you.

Reflexology is based on the belief that there are certain points located on our feet and hands which correspond with various organs and other parts of our bodies. Those who practice it say that by treating just the feet alone, you treat the entire body, as it’s all connected by one energy. When in the correct state, energy should flow easily from one end of the body to the other. Between the head and feet lie ten zones, which are also commonly known as “channels”. These channels can become blocked when an ailment is affecting the body negatively.

Reflexology encourages the body to improve circulation and lymphatic movement, simultaneously increasing the movement of energy. Applying pressure and massaging certain points can stimulate the related organs to get rid of said toxins. Kidneys, for example, are one of the major “filter” organs. The spots which correlate to the kidneys are around the bottom of the arch, in-between the first and second toes.

The liver is another essential filter organ, and filters everything consumed by the body. These reflexology points are located a couple fingers below the pinky toe on the bottom of each foot. In addition, make sure to drink enough filtered water, as well as caffeine-free herbal tea after each session to continue to flush out toxins. Make sure your diet is well-balanced, complete with fresh fruit and vegetables, making sure to take plenty of time to rest your body. By taking all of these steps in conjunction with each other, you will be a detox-flushing machine, and will be feeling and looking better in no time!
