Detoxing our bodies is never a bad idea, but when should you start? If you’ve noticed recently that your body is slowing down, or that everything (even day-to-day tasks) are starting to become more taxing, then take note. Perhaps you feel that your mind is becoming more foggy, or that your allergies are getting worse. You probably need to detox.
Detoxing your body can aid the removal or harmful metals, toxins, yeast overgrowth, and counterproductive bacteria more effectively from your body. Are bodies are actually made to self-detox, so when we refer to this as “detoxing” we really mean that it’s creating a more optimal environment for your body to eliminate these toxins.
Detoxing should really only be done to aid in minimizing the amount of harmful toxins many of us consume on a daily basis, while also giving our body the nutrients it needs to become even more efficient in this respect. As we get older, the body becomes less efficient in toxin removal, making it easier to accumulate a buildup. This is also seen in those who have chronic afflictions.
Before You Start
First, give your body a head start by eliminating all toxins, harmful chemicals, processed foods, etc. that you can. Also, stop smoking and drinking a week (minimum) before and after the cleanse. Try to eliminate chemicals found in things like cleaning supplies, shampoos, and air fresheners.
Colon Cleanse
THis is where billions of healthy bacteria lie, to fight off the “bad” bacteria. The colon needs to be kept healthy and constantly moving, as this is where many toxins build up before they’re flushed out. If you find yourself bloated or lethargic frequently, you should think about eliminating constipation, as well as detoxing. The longer waste sits in your colon, the more time toxins have to affect your body. This can be eliminated by becoming more active, or a poor diet. Frequent bowel issues can cause colorectal cancer, which is actually the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US.
Consuming vitamin C frequently (particularly lemons), cayenne pepper, sea salt, ginger, filtered pure water, and probiotics can help your colon flush out these toxins.
