Don’t detox once a month with a cleanse or once a year with a fast. Instead, make detoxifying part of your daily life. If you want to get and stay healthy, lean, full of energy and free from disease, release toxins in a variety of ways throughout your day and your week. Here are 11 sure ways to detox that aren’t just health food fads:
- Eat right. Study after study has shown that eating whole foods opens up pathways to detoxification. This means lean protein, quality fats and plenty of veggies, including cruciferous vegetables, garlic, berries and spices. Select organic foods when you can – and eat raw foods or cook minimally for the most nutrients.
- Support those intestines. Your gut should run like a well-oiled machine, but stomach issues mean something is going wrong. Gut imbalances and other issues often come down to eating the wrong things and not getting enough nutrition. Talk to your doctor about leaky gut syndrome and other potentially serious issues that may be making it hard for you to properly detoxify.
- Cut inflammation. Inflammation means you’re storing more toxins than you should, causing fat to stay put rather than melt away and creating a world of health concerns as well. Many foods can help with reducing inflammation, including wild seafood, flax, chia, non-starchy veggies, spices like turmeric and more. Add in supplements if necessary, including fish oil, resveratrol and curcumin.
- Stay immune-aware. Supporting a healthy immune system means many things, including eating well, sleeping well, managing stress, avoiding bacteria through hand washing, getting the right nutrients and more.
- Add in a cleanse twice a year. A formal detox program every spring, fall or both isn’t a bad idea at all, it just shouldn’t be the only time you’re concerned with detoxifying. Lasting 2 or 3 weeks in many cases, a good detox plan includes ample protein, nutrients and healthy eating – not fasting.
- Cut toxic exposure. You don’t have to clear toxins from your body when you were never exposed in the first place. Stay away from building materials being cut or used, household cleaners, processed foods and anything else you think might be questionable. You can’t prevent all exposure, but you can stay vigilant.
- Drink lost of water. Obvious, right? Yet most of us don’t. Always keep a glass, cup or bottle by your side so you don’t get under-hydrated, slowing down the detox process.
- Sweat when you can. Exercise doesn’t just burn fat; it helps your body excrete toxins. Choose hot yoga, high-intensity training or whatever you like, but find a workout plan that helps you sweat and you’ll be improving your body’s ability to detoxify.
- Sleep well. It’s easier said than done, but sleeping well encourages a brain process that helps you release toxins. And not getting enough sleep on a regular basis means that your other efforts to detoxify simply won’t work very well.
- Get pro help. A doctor, chiropractor or other health professional can help you get your body in optimal condition for detoxifying. Whether you go with Western medicine, Eastern medicine, alternative health or a mixture of them all, solving medical issues can make it easier to detox and help you feel your best every day.
- Use detox products. In addition to supplements, special products designed to detoxify your system while you sleep or perform other tasks are available – and these can help support your body’s natural healing and detoxifying processes. At Body Pure, we recommend our foot pads.
BodyPure detox foot pads remove toxins from your body while you sleep, for use occasionally or every night. Use them along with these tips for maximum benefit – and maximum quality of life.
